I Love This One!

Just editing pictures today and I came across this one and I just had to share. It is a different crop than most people are used to, but I think that is why I like it so much.

My Little Girl is Growing Up!

Brooklyn learned to write her name! I figured it was time to start teaching Brooklyn how to write her name since she would be starting school so we sat down and within a matter of 20 minutes she learned to write her entire name. I couldn't believe how fast she picked it up. She was SO proud of herself. Here are some pictures of her writing her name for the first time!

Here is Brooklyn on her first day of preschool! How big is she? She was very excited to start school again. She really missed going this summer. I wanted a few pictures of her before we headed out and she was posing it up for me. What a doll! She absolutely LOVED her first week of school. It is exciting and sad to watch her grow up. She seems so much older than she really is. I think she is 3 going on 13. SCARY! Truth be told, while she is extremely independent and has a mind of her own, she also has a big heart and is always looking for ways to do things for others. I am so blessed to have her in my life.

My Sweet K

Here is my sweet niece, K. I had the pleasure of taking her pictures a couple of weeks ago and wanted to share a few of my favorites. Isn't she a doll?

SILVER and GOLD

I want to say CONGRATULATIONS to my wonderful husband. Troy has been in Brazil for the past 2 weeks competing at the Parapan Games. He got 2nd place in the 100m, which he was very disappointed about--although silver is nothing to be disappointed about in my opinion, but he got GOLD in the 200m. It was great talking to him after the race because he was SO excited! He also competed in the 4x400m relay where his team set a new American record!

Anyone that knows Troy knows that he is extremely dedicated to training day in and day out and I am so happy that all that hard work is paying off for him. I try to be supportive, but I know I fall very short of that some days. I am thankful that he continues to train so hard so that he can acheive his dreams. I want him to know how proud I am of him.

One year from now we hope to be sitting in Bejing as he competes at the Paralympics. Just thinking about it makes me fill with excitement. Going to Sydney in 2000 was one of the coolest things we have ever done. Opening Ceremonies was incredible!! One more year of intense training and then he shall reap his reward! Congratulations again, Troy! I love you very much.

The Scissors Won!

I guess I knew that it was only a matter of time before this happened, but I kept hoping that my daughter would never find the scissors and do the dreaded deed. I am sure you know what I am talking about, in fact I am sure that most of you have similar stories to share. But unfortunately my daughter did find the scissors and while she had a moment alone she decided to take advantage of it and give herself a haircut. She was so proud of herself when she came out of my room so how could I get very mad at her? She cut her gorgeous long hair above her eyebrows and about to her ears. Well, we went and saw Aunt Debbie for a little intervention. It is cute, but it will definitely take some getting used to. Gone are the easy days of pony tails and in are the days of having to blow dry her hair and figure out how to do it. It will grow back, it will grow back, it will grow back, I keep trying to convince myself that it IS ok. Here is a quick picture of the new do! I hope you like it and if you don't--well, please just lie to me and tell me that you do!!

If you have been to my house, you might notice that Brooklyn's room looks a little different. Yep, I have spent the past few days (with some help from some good friends) painting Brooklyn's room pink. She had Elmo before, but kept telling me she was too big for Elmo and wanted a pink room. Well, it definitely is pink. I will post more pictures when we get the furniture in and get it decorated. I am very excited to get it finished. Brooklyn LOVES her pink room even though it is empty. In fact, I think she likes it better that way. She decided she needed to dress in her princess dress to match her room and she wanted a personal photo shoot. How could I pass that up? Oh, now that the bed is out of the way of the window, the lighting is AMAZING!! We will be taking a lot of pictures in her new room.

You are beautiful, Brooklyn!

He Should be a Model!

D is only 8, but man is a cute guy! He definitely could be a model. He loved the camera and was up for whatever I asked. It was such a pleasure taking pictures of him. If it would not have been over 110 degrees, I think I could have photographed him all day. But with heat stroke setting in I had to call it a day :D.

I like the urban feel of this one. If anyone is interested in an urban session please contact me for more details. I would love to do this.

This one is just for D. He loves skateboarding and is getting pretty good at some tricks.

Thanks, D. I had a ton of fun!

Look at her EYES!!

This is my beautiful niece, K. We had fun the other day taking pictures of just her. She is the middle of 3 girls and I am taking each of them by themselves for pictures and then their parents want a Storybook made of each of them. I am so excited to see the books finished!! I will definitely post pictures when I get them back!

As a side note, these books make wonderful gifts and are showstoppers in your home. They contain a majority of the pictures from your session in a beautiful, hard bound, custom designed storybook. I know that you will fall in love with them as soon as you lay eyes on it. These would be wonderful to document a special day, including birthdays, baptisms, family events, first haircut, sporting events, or a "Day in the Life." Please inquire about details and pricing.

K wants to be a model and she absolutely LOVES the camera and getting her pictures taken. I love her eyes in these pictures. K you are gorgeous!

Some Favorites by the Beach

I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get pictures while we were at the beach. I know that I should just take a vacation, but I guess I just can't pull myself away from the camera. The results were worth it!

This is my new favorite couples shot!

Here are several pictures of my brother's family. They have a house full of beautiful girls!

These two are inseperable. Kiley is such a Daddy's Girl!

Sorry for so many pictures, but I hope you enjoyed them!

Beach Fun

Every year my family travels to Oceanside, CA for a week of beach fun. We spend lots of time jumping waves, getting dirty in the sand, having bbqs, shopping, playing lots of games and just relaxing. It's a tradition that started 20 years ago and is something we all look forward to throughout the year. We had a great time and I wanted to share some of my favorite pictures from the week.

Kiley and Brooklyn are the best of friends, but boy can the two of them get into some trouble together!! They LOVED playing with each other all week. We are so sad that they don't live down the street from us anymore because we hardly see them.

Whenever I look at this picture, I get a bit of a pit in my stomach. Although this picture was taken earlier in the week it reminds me of a moment that scared me to death. Let me explain, Brigham loved the water and sand, but would usually stay right by me so I didn't have to worry too much throughout the week, which was a huge relief, but the last day all of a sudden he decided to be brave. I was sitting in the chair watching the kids play in the sand and I looked up just in time to see Brigham walking into the water--BY HIMSELF!!! Does he not know that he is only 14 months old and can't go into the ocean alone?! He was about knee deep in water and, before I could stand up, a wave had taken him down and completely covered him in water. Jerlyn scooped him up a second later, but that was enough for me. I sat and held him for the next hour!

This picture, by the way, was taken well before the above incident, and Suzi was standing right next to him :).
