Beautiful Idaho

Last weekend we went to Idaho for the weekend for Grandma Davis' funeral. It was great to see Troy's family that we haven't seen in far too long and to celebrate the life of such an amazing woman. She was 97 years old and ready to be reunited with her dear husband, but she will surely be missed by those that knew her. It was amazing to see so many of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren all together. She left a great posterity. She lived a great life and we will all be better people for knowing her. She will never be forgotten.

While we were in Idaho, I came to the conclusion that I live in the wrong state, not that this is a big surprise. The desert of AZ is just not really my thing. I was in awe of the beautiful farmlands, old barns, tall grasses, and the Snake River. This is a photographers dream--gorgeous scenery! So we had a few hours with nothing to do so I went with Troy and the kids to take pictures. Brooklyn was not being the most willing of subjects, but I did get a few good shots of her. She is starting to really get sick of the camera which makes her mama so sad.

One of the highlights of my trip was when my father-in-law, Bruce, took us the his old farmhouse where he grew up. It was so much fun watching his reminisce about his days on the farm. As we were looking around one of my nephews wanted to go down into the old celler. Well, the new owner of the house didn't mind and it was a good thing because he found several bottles of pickles that Grandma Davis had jarred about 20 years ago. I love this picture of the pickles in his hands and I LOVE the expression on his face. You can tell what pure delight that this brought him to see something that his dear mother had done so many years earlier.

We also took a few moments to take some pictures of my in-laws. We have been planning on doing this for a while and this was the perfect place to do it. I know that they were very busy over the weekend, but I am thankful that they humored me and let me take a few pictures. I hope the results were worth it!! They look so happy in these pictures.

I just wanted to share one more picture. I love how the grandkids were able to see where their grandpa grew up and experience for a moment the beautiful nature around them.

Looking through these pictures makes me really miss Idaho. I guess I really am country girl at heart even though I have always lived in the city.

How Do You Get a Newborn to Sleep?

You go outside in the 112 degree heat, of course! That's right, we spent several hours outside during the heat of the day (we did take breaks to cool off in the house) so that we could get some newborn shots of this sleepy little guy. And when I say little, I mean little. Meet J, he is already a month old and is weighing in at just over 5 pounds and he has already put on a pound if you can believe it. He was born almost 7 weeks early and spent 2 1/2 weeks in the hospital, but he is doing great!

I was so happy to take pictures of this wonderful family. We have been friends since college and my husband and M have actually been friends since they were about 12. They spent many years wheelchair racing together and then were roommates in college. So it was fun spending the afternoon together. Even though we live close to each other we don't see each other often enough.

Enough talk though, I wanted to share a few pictures, ok a lot of pictures. I just can't help it. He is just too cute.

I love the relationship between mother and baby. She was just in awe of her sweet son and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to capture that moment.

I had to share a few pictures of big bro also. Isn't he cute? Fast too! This first picture shows exactly what he did the entire time we were taking pictures--RUN! He definitely wore me out. Do kids not feel the heat? Because I was dying and he never stopped running and didn't seem to care at all that it felt like we were on the surface of the sun.

Well, thank you for letting me come to your home and try whatever I wanted. You were great sports and I hope that you are happy with the results!
